ভারতের গবেষকরা পৃথিবীর বিস্ময়কর এক আম সৃষ্টি করেছেন। আমটির নাম আম্রপালি আবার অনেকেই এটাকে বলেন আমরুপালী। ভারতের শেষ্ঠ নর্তকীর নাম ছিল আম্রপালি। আম্রপালি আম উদ্ভাবনের মাধ্যমে রাজা বাদশাহ্ত্র সেই নাচনেওয়ালী আম্রপালি এখন অমর। ১৯৭৮ সালে ভারতের আম গবেষকরা দশহোরী ও নিলাম এই দুটি আমের মধ্যে সঙ্করায়নের মাধ্যমে আম্রপালি আমের জাত উদ্ভাবন করেন। এই জাতের বেশকিছু বৈশিষ্ট্য রয়েছে। প্রথমত, আমাদের দেশের আবহাওয়ার কারণে উন্নতজাতের আম এক বছর ফলে। পরের বছর আম ফলে না। কিন্তু আম্রপালি প্রতিবছর ফলে। এর মিষ্টতার পরিমাণ ল্যাংড়া হিমসাগরের চেয়ে বেশি। গাছ বামন আকৃতির। ফলনও বেশি। পাঁচ হাত দূরত্বে ১ হেক্টর জমিতে ১৫শ’ আম্রপালির চারা রোপণ করা যায়। ১৯৯০ সালের দিকে ভারত থেকে চোরাইপথে আম্রপালির চারা প্রথম দেশে পাচার হয়ে আসে। পরবর্তীতে ব্র্যাক ভারত থেকে বৈধভাবে এর চারা আমদানি করেছে। বর্তমানে দেশে ৩০ থেকে ৫০ টাকায় আম্রপালির চারা কিনতে পাওয়া যায়। গুণ ও মানের কারণে দেশের বিভিন্ন স্থানে আম্রপালির বাগান গড়ে উঠেছে। বর্তমানে দেশ থেকে উন্নতজাতের আম্রপালি বিদেশে রপ্তানি হচ্ছে।

Indian researchers have created a wonderful mango in the world. The name of the mango is Amrapali, and many call it Amrupali or Amropali. The name of the last dancer of India was Amrapali. In 1978, Indian mango researchers developed the Amrapali mango variety by crossing two mangoes, Dashahori and Nilam. This variety has several characteristics. Its sweetness is more than that of Langra Himsagar. The tree is dwarf in shape. The yield is also high. 1500 Amrapali seedlings can be planted in 1 hectare of land at a distance of five hands. Amrupali seedlings were first smuggled into the country from India around 1990. Later, BRAC legally imported its seedlings from India. Currently, Amropali seedlings can be bought in the country for 30 to 50 taka. Due to its quality and quantity, Amrapali gardens have been established in various parts of the country. Currently, improved varieties of Amrapali are being exported abroad.
